ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLINESS @ VIT

VIT is one of the few universities which offer a course in Mechanical Engineering specialized in Energy. Students from this branch have their study related to environment friendly use of energy. VIT also has its own CO2 Research Centre.

VIT students have also contributed to the projects like Wind Mill, Solar Dish. These projects show how much is VIT interested in environment.

VIT also has one of the clubs based on environment - E2PC. It conducts various events based on environment including a marathon.
Greenery we find at VIT is indicative of the fact that VIT cares for our degrading environment.
VIT’s own Sewage Treatment Plant also shows the same. Waste management and handling skills of VIT is comparable to the institutes abroad. The well managed and clean footpaths, roads, lawns and buildings, with trash bins at every nook and corner of the university… this all shows VIT’s effort to have clean and healthy environment. It’s simply superb!!!

Social Life @ VIT

Social life in VIT is entirely different from social life at home. Many parents prefer to send their children to hostel so that they are away from homely pleasure and learn to live and grow on their own. VIT provides the most ideal atmosphere for study. The students get more time and suitable atmosphere to do their studies, to get help or guidance for anything from their class-fellows and moreover, from seniors who are living close by. Even a careless or negligent student starts working hard when he sees his roommate or neighbour competing for position. Thus VIT inspires a lesson of mutual co-operation and the spirit of healthy competition.

The greatest blessing for students away from home is the independence. No-body is there in VIT to question them whether they go to bed late at night or get up late in the mornings. Everyone is a master of his own, in spite of strict rules and regulations of the college. Those who love freedom like college life very much. Even during vacations, such students do not wish to visit their homes. Further there is no elder to check the activities. The student does not have to live as other members of the family live and he is required to adjust on so many occasions. He is to keep in mind the convenience of others and may have to study in spite of presence of guests at home.

In VIT, a student may learn many good qualities after coming into contact with many other students from different cultures, states and walk of life. A student can get inspiration from other mates in college who daily go for morning classes or exercises. A single student can set good examples for other students in a VIT. The characteristics of a good college life are love, co-operation and sympathy for fellow – friends. All round development of the personality is possible by living for few years in VIT . The students are always in touch with people of their own age and who have varied aptitudes, tastes and knowledge. Friends can be selected based on your own choice and liking.
In VIT, students learn a lot from the mutual discussions. Whether it is the political scene of the country or the criticism of a latest picture seen by them or about their favourite heroine or her or about a cricket match or favourite sportspersons, every discussion becomes lively and a source of unlimited information and knowledge. Then there are holidays, special events like college fests (Gravitas and Riviera) and indoor or outdoor matches which make college life a thing of envy for others living in homes. Further whenever any student falls ill, all other students take good care of him and provide him all type of help. They try to guide him for the missed periods of study in the classroom.

Sometimes, freedom of VIT leads many students astray. They find the atmosphere entirely new and free. They start following some spoilt children of the rich class and start asking for more and more money from their parents. They make it a routine to go to cinemas and waste time in only enjoyment and merry-making. Even some students start smoking, gambling or even go to the extent of drinking. They do not care for the hard earned money sent by their parents. However, such students have to repent in later part of their lives for not learning anything in spite of the best opportunities.
Overall social life in VIT is full of joys and fun provided that the students make the best out of it because they may not get this opportunity twice.

Food @ VIT

Food is a satisfaction and not only our need. Talking about VIT, the place is a gourmet’s delight. At VIT there are canteens, food spots and food park, this places bring u the wonders of taste, something that u will ever cherish.

Near l-block is FOOD MALL .This specializes in Indian food .here you get from south Indian dosa to, maharastrian pav  bhaji and bengali  misti doi  to paneer curries from north. Supplementing this effort is FOOD PARK of  j-block . These places fill mostly during night tine for dinner.

Then comes GDN CANTEEN, managed by darling group. This is student’s favourite adda. There is rush and hub-bub throughout the day. This has south Indian culinary. The best thing about here is the deliciously innovative variations of traditional recipes. Like chilly-idly made using flavoured sauces and traditional idly.

Foodies also have their appetites for outside food and they are not disappointed. PANJABI DHABA opposite to CMC main gate is most famous outer food spot not only for its coolness and great ambience but mainly for the rich taste you feel in your mouth each time you take a bite. Wow! Writing this makes me hungry. Punjabi dishes are a top, here.

We have a small china in Vellore , courtesy CHINA TOWN . Wonderfully, there each day the food theme changes. Like some day, they will have food famous in one province of, and next day some other. These surprises make things more existing. What is best is fact that all staff is Chinese immigrants. Chinese cooks present their native recipes    in gorgeous taste and texture. Each time you eat there, it’s a WOW CHINA.

These are not only places but our ‘food memories’ .good food is auxiliary, it makes you happy and here at VIT we are luxuriously happy.

Campus @ VIT

The VIT campus is spread over a vast area of 346 acres. The best feature to discuss about the campus of VIT is its cleanliness and greenery. VIT is by far the most beautiful campus I ever came across. The maintenance staffs here are highly dedicated towards their job.

Even there is a lake in the campus which is also quite fascinating. The lake is basically the storage area for the sewage treatment plant which is situated besides the lake. It stinks a lot !!! It is the cause of diseases for many of the students.

There are many trees in Woodstock which is also a very soothing sight……. The main railway line between Chennai and Bangalore passes through the campus which adds to the scenic beauty.

Personally, I think that the Library and Technology Tower are the best designed buildings in the campus. The Technology Tower has been designed by one of our faculty which defines the excellence of our professors. The hostels are also state-of-the-art buildings and are equipped with various facilities for the students.

The academics buildings are also highly equipped with all the modern day facilities with smart class-rooms……

ACADEMIC LIFE @ VIT

Hi frndzz....

I think those who are related to engineering field must have heard about VIT UNIVERSITY somewhere but those who actually does not belong to VIT UNIVERSITY knows a very little about the life of a VIT student…..so today I will give you a brief description of the academic life of a VIT student…….

Like most of the engineering colleges, VIT UNIVERSITY too follows semester pattern……..each year consists of two semesters, the odd semester which feels really long and the even semester which gets over before you know it……..

The academic life at VIT is a full of joy and sorrow you can say, each semester consists of 3 QUIZZES, a lot of ASSIGNMENTS which the student just prefer to copy from their friends at the last moment, 2 CATS (so called internal exams of VIT stands for “CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT TESTS”) and the last but not the least the TEE (so called “TERM END EXAMINATIONS”)…..i used to think that these two i.e. CAT and TEE are the most hated words around the campus among most of the students but my misconception got changed when I met some of the peoples who says that “I LOVE CAT”……..but for most of us CAT and TEE means waking up and realise that its time to put your feet on the accelerator and start:

(1)Getting things Xeroxed (and use some of your dad’s bucks to good effect!!!)….

(2)To run to library and visit its corners which you haven’t seen before….

(3)Forget about your boyfriend or girlfriend….

(4)Dust out the books (if you do have any)….

(5)Having night tea (which is the best part of exams)….

Now you are thinking that its more than enough for a student to cope up with as far academics is concerned………but wait there are some more twists in the tail which are an integral part of the academic life of a VIT student…..To start with let me talk about one of the important part of the academic life of a VITian i.e.” THE ATTENDENCE” They are very strict about that, atleast 75% or else bye bye, yes you won’t be allowed to give the examination and the whole semester goes in vain….and you end up with arrears and all…..

Apart from this another important part of a VITian academic life is FFCS (so called “FULLY FLEXIBLE CREDIT SYSTEM”) which is just one more headache for the students……This system gives the students freedom to decide their faculties and to schedule their complete time table according to their own wish……so in order to have good faculties, an easily paced time table and for having classes with their friends  students do a plenty of planning….but at the end of the day the whole thing depends upon your  luck….. if you are lucky enough to get an earlier date for FFCS then its good…..but if you are not lucky enough the whole of the planning just mean nothing….and you end up with whatever is left at your turn…..in some worst cases you even won’t be able to get the subjects that you want……

Even though the life of a VITian seems to be a bit difficult but still VIT provides enough opportunities to push in with big ideas through and come up with flying colours in our life…..VIT provide the much required technical exposure by conducting many workshops and conferences through out the year for the students and also gives interested students a chance to have a hands on research experience with the faculties which are very supportive and encourage us to do well……and if you have idea you can do it on your own as well……

At last I just want to make a point that if u wanna enjoy you can, you wanna study hard and come out big you can do this too. What my experience as a VITian till now says that how you make the best balance of both (“study and enjoyment”) makes you the perfect VITian…….
